Gandalf and Aragorn lead the World of Men against Sauron’s army to draw his gaze from Frodo and Sam as they approach Mount Doom with the One Ring. (IMDb)
The lengthy final battle takes away from some character work, but it’s undeniably epic, with its dizzying camerawork (see the flying rock perspective), artful editing (the montage with Pippin’s song is perfect), awesome action (see the elephant take-downs), and a memorable one-liner or two (“I am no man!”). Meanwhile, Frodo and Sam’s more focused and torturous journey adds some welcome emotion, added to further in the moving final few scenes (see the bow to the hobbits and the tearful farewell).
8.5/10 (Amazing)
8.4 out of 10?! Are you fricking insane? Tears unnumbered ye shall shed under the horror of the thousand curses your low rating will cause to rain down upon you. May the armies of the dead haunt your dreams and your fields be as barren as the fire-scorched Pelennor. May you waste away to a wraith and be shat upon by a hammered dwarf.
10/10. Easy.

He doesn’t realize that 8.4 is one of your highest ratings given. There is no such thing as a 10/10 on anything. You accomplished much in capturing an epic multi-hour movie in six lines.

well thank you for the kind words 🙂 yes the way I like to think of it is that 8.4 is actually about an A grade, which of course is top notch when it comes to academics.
