Mr. Peabody & Sherman (2014)

The time-travelling adventures of an advanced canine and his adopted son, as they endeavor to fix a time rift they created. (IMDb)

Although it has its share of cheap kiddish humour, the wacky, fast-paced time-travel plot (featuring a good smattering of historical irony and charming caricatures–Warburton’s meat-head Agamemnon is particularly great) and its unique lead (a brilliant, pun-dropping renaissance canine) generate enough laughs to keep all ages interested. Meanwhile, the “dog adopts a human” premise is fresh and witty, even though its emotional climax (“I’m a dog too!”) swings and misses quite badly.
