When a lottery winner dies of shock, his fellow townsfolk attempt to claim the money. (IMDb)
A wonderfully quirky premise (Michael’s initial deception is hilarious) fits nicely within the charming seaside setting and its odd old Irish country-bumpkin characters (Michael and Jackie and their naked motorcycle rides are priceless), while occasionally taking secretly delightful turns to startlingly black comedy (see Lizzy’s applauded telephone booth death). Its briefness, meanwhile, would sit better if it wasn’t for the completely irrelevant romantic side-plot with Pig Finn and Maggie.
7/10 (Good)
I have to disagree. The “side plot” is merely one of numerous character sketches of townspeople. Finn’s talk of “fruity soaps” is hilarious; perhaps only because I grew up on a pig farm I don’t know. One of the funniest movies ever in my opinion.

I definitely found the whole “fruity soaps” bit funny, for sure, but I just felt like they gave too much time to the romance story-having it go beyond just for the purposes of character development, and distracting from the actual premise. Really enjoyed the humour too though!
