Through some artificial early scenes, two attractive people share shy smiles as their physical attraction bubbles to the surface–it’s cute but it never gets any deeper as the film goes on. Fortunately, a fiercely controlling dad creates some conflict (doesn’t like the boy), generating some character development and depth (girl turns rebel, boy has a past), and briefly bringing up an interesting social classes theme. It’s just a shame the couple themselves never generate much of interest.
