A wonderfully quirky premise (Michael’s initial deception is hilarious) fits nicely within the charming seaside setting and its odd old Irish country-bumpkin characters (Michael and Jackie and their naked motorcycle rides are priceless), while occasionally taking secretly delightful turns to startlingly black comedy (see Lizzy’s applauded telephone booth death). Its briefness, meanwhile, would sit better if it wasn’t for the completely irrelevant romantic side-plot with Pig Finn and Maggie.
