Thor: The Dark World (2013)

When Dr. Jane Foster gets cursed with a powerful entity known as the Aether, Thor is heralded of the cosmic event known as the Convergence and the genocidal Dark Elves. (IMDb)
Another predictable plot with a still insufferably lame Jane in the still mostly cheesy CGI fantasy land of Asgard (the funeral scene being a beautiful exception) is iced with enough good stuff to elevate it above its predecessor. There’s better self-aware humour (see the hammer hang on the coat rack; Thor on the subway), a pretty cool–if far-fetched–final action sequence, and engaging relational development between Thor and Loki (regrettably reversed during a stupid final-seconds twist).
6.5/10 (Alright)

  1. Haha….I actually like this movie (a bit more than most), but yes there are some problems to do (some glaring). I’m actually going to release my review for this movie (from my old blog) in a couple of hours. Check it out.

    1. I’ve always liked Loki too, don’t get me wrong! Hiddleston is great. I guess I just liked the development between the brothers, and the twist really cheapened that, with what feels like too easy of a plot device in his shape-shifting power.

    1. Thanks Khalid! Yeah, I liked it a touch more than the original Thor, so it’s not worst of the MCU in my books, but it’s close. For whatever reasons, the Thor films just don’t hit home for me as much as the others do.
