Famed archaeologist/adventurer Dr. Henry “Indiana” Jones is called back into action when he becomes entangled in a Soviet plot to uncover the secret behind mysterious artifacts known as the Crystal Skulls. (IMDb)
A classic straightaway action sequence is followed by a great plot set-up that introduces an enjoyable new sidekick (LaBeouf’s greaser) while offering some rambunctious initial fun (see the bar escape; motorcycle chase; Ford’s library one-liner) in a glossed-up 50s Americana setting. The adventure only gets amped up from there, but obvious CGI often brings it down (see the jungle sequence), and the increasingly ridiculous sci-fi plot certainly doesn’t help matters. Still an entertaining watch.
7/10 (Good)
Yes! I can’t say that I love this movie, especially to the degree that I do with the previous three, but I still feel it gets way, way too much hate. The first half is perfectly entertaining, despite the second half being weighed down by an overblown sci-fi plot, as you said.

yeah, you nailed it Brett! definitely isn’t as good as the original trilogy, but I think it’s suffered from that special kind of prejudice that seems to pop up every now and then for remakes of beloved nostalgic classics 😛

Exactly! That’s how I feel about movies like The Force Awakens and Prometheus – great films, and get too much flack for rebooting beloved franchises.

it’s times like these I’m glad i don’t have that nostalgia factor for series such as those to influence me on my perception of them!

The action kept me on the edge of my seat, but the transformer guy as Indiana Jones’ torch-bearer, pleeeeese.
